Insinkerator's Plug

 I installed an Insinkerator disposal today. When I went to pop out the plug where the dishwasher is connected. I saw this.

Its a plug that is easily removed with the disposal tool that comes with the unity. This is brilliant.

 No knocking the plug out with a screw driver then shaking the disposal upside down to get the plug out of the unit.

Nice and easy twist out or twist in if you need to reuse it. Should have been thought of a long time ago.

Hose Bibs

 Arrowhead Frost-Proof wall hydrants are high quality hose bibs. 

I have come across two problems over the years. Both have to do with not removing the hose after using the hose bib.

The first problem is the shaft bust when the hose is not removed during freezing weather.

The second problem is the bib leaks out of the weep hole during use.  This is caused by a worn out O-ring on the check assembly. 

Here’s what a new one looks like. 

Arrowhead warns the user on the side of the box the bib comes in. 

The best practice is close the bib and remove the hose after every use.

Water Heater Rough In

This is how I like to rough in water heaters.

I prefer to incorporate the main water valve with the water heater piping so as to have both the water heater and main water valves in the same location.

This method has worked well for my customers.
